Acclaimed filmmaker-actor Mysskin is charting a new creative path, shifting his focus from long-delayed projects to an array of fresh narratives. The director recently opened up about the emotional toll taken by his unreleased films, Pisasu 2 and Train, but affirmed his decision to move forward, revealing exciting prospects including a story narrated to Lokesh Kanagaraj and a script for Malayalam superstar Mammootty.
Moving Past Creative Hurdles
Mysskin, whose last directorial release was the 2020 thriller Psycho, expressed his candid feelings regarding the uncertain fate of his two completed films, Pisasu 2 and Train. He admitted to experiencing "pain" over their lack of release but shared that he is now determined to embrace new ventures. In a recent conversation, he likened the filmmaking process to a challenging "battlefield," where directors frequently encounter "massive egos" both during production and off-set. He also reflected on a personal learning, stating that "too much of creative ambition is bad," a lesson he gleaned from his own experiences in the industry.
A Symbolic Dream and New Beginnings
The director recounted a vivid dream that he believes mirrored his subconscious feelings about the stalled projects. In the dream, he witnessed a "massive elephant carrying two dead babies," which it then placed near his home's well. Mysskin described his own action of bringing "fruit and water" to the spot. Seeking an interpretation, he consulted ChatGPT, which suggested the dream might signify "two dead relatives" on his mind. Mysskin, however, saw the imagery as a representation of his unreleased films, Pisasu 2 and Train.
This dream proved to be a turning point, helping him acknowledge that he had emotionally detached himself from the projects. "I let them go and immediately started writing something else," Mysskin shared, emphasizing his philosophy of continuous progression. "There is pain, but you have to move on. I don’t want to get angry. I think I should walk off."
Collaborations with Industry Titans
True to his word, Mysskin is actively pursuing new scripts. He revealed that he recently presented a story idea to acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who reportedly "liked it a lot." This collaboration marks an exciting potential development for fans of both filmmakers. Beyond this, Mysskin has an impressive 26 story concepts in development, one of which is specifically crafted for Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, signaling his ambition to work across different industries and with prominent stars.
Background and Future Endeavors
While Mysskin's directorial ventures have seen a pause since 2020, he has remained active in front of the camera. His Malayalam acting debut was in the film I’m Game, and he also made a cameo appearance in Love Insurance Kompany. Looking ahead, audiences can anticipate seeing him in the upcoming film Sathyavan Savithri.
